Broken Stratocumulus Looking E in Pinecrest, 25o 39'N, 80o19'W, 0722 EST, 01 March 2004. Old-time sailors called blue sky seen through breaks in Stratocumulus "Dutchmen's drawers," after the blue denim trousers first worn by mariners from the Netherlands. At sea, Dutchmen's drawers are generally a sign of abating gales and improving conditions after passage of a cold front.
